Chlorophyll a is a measure of the amount of algae growing in a waterbody. It can be used to classify the trophic condition of a waterbody.
The digital chlorophyll sensor leverages the unique absorption and emission characteristics of chlorophyll A, which has distinct spectral peaks. By emitting specific monochromatic light wavelengths into the water, the sensor measures the emitted light at another wavelength, which is proportional to the chlorophyll A content in the water.
